Lunch

Mike commented that it's about time for a tomato sandwich post. He's right, so here it is.  Aaaa, summertime.  Now if you live here in the South then these are the things you need for a tomato sandwich.  Nice soft loaf bread, a ripe homegrown tomato, salt, pepper and very importantly Duke's Mayonnaise.

Now if you live somewhere else you are excused from not having Dukes in your fridge.  If you live in the South and have Miracle Whip (God forbid), or any thing else other than Dukes for your tomato sandwiches then you need to march right out to the store immediately and get you a jar.

My favorite summer sandwich. Unfortunately I used my one ripe, non plum, tomato for bruschetta and it looks like I have a bit more waiting time for the Brandywines and other beefsteak type heirlooms to ripen.

Had my first tomato sandwich of the season yesterday (I am a Duke's convert). Tomatoes were late because of the wet, cool spring. It was all the tastier for being served on a hand thrown plate, and salted from hand thrown salt pig.
A savory moment, every which way.

We have been eating Bradywines grown by our good friends for the past month.
Oh- my goodness they are good- dripping good. Sink sandwiches we call them. Because you have to stand over the sink to eat them.
Homemade bread and DUKES, thank you Ron is there any other Mayo??!! Not in this house. Please keep your sugar, salad dressing, out of my mayo.
We are now topping them with bacon.
Or Bread lightly toasted, mayo, tomatoes, cheese- good cheese the real stuff- a bit of dried oregano and fresh basil- broil and eat with a knife and fork.
Should I go on.....?
Just "get you some!"
