A most helpful video Ron. A wonderful thing to, do sharing your knowledge in this way, thank you so much.
Very nice! Like I said before, I made one of those at the Tuscarora Pottery School, but I made the walls too thin, and the little rim didn't look that great by the time I was done. You make it look easy! I'll have to try it again. Thanks for the video! :)
Ron,
another inspiring video!! Great job! I've been working outside on this beautiful sunny day but now it's time to get some clay work done. Unfortunately I have a lot of plastic to chase, but maybe I'll give these pot a whirl before I tackle all of the jars I threw the other day!
(It also reminds me of the banks that Dan Finnegan makes...)
Thanks for taking the time to school us on this nice little pot.
Better then Pottery Illustrated! :) Im definitely gonna try this. Thanks Ron.
hehhey unnsightly craaacks!!! that was fun...
I love this demo. I have only seen this technique illustrated in a book until now. Thank you Proffessor Ron.
Just wonderful Ron, especially your details on the bevels and I never would have realized about putting the air hole in the top when drying, great stuff and welll done video, thanks so much.
Thanks you all. I am glad this was helpful.
great video ron... it was fun watching it all come together
Ron, great video, thanks for sharing. I am curious about the crack in the lid without the pulg. What causes that and how does the plug prevent it? Does the plug fill the hollow part--no air left inside? So many questions!
Hey Gay, That will crack because you spiraled that clay into a point there. It doesn't crack all the way through to the other side but it will look bad if you just leave it. So I push a little clay in there to cover it and make it look nice. You're right there is no air left in there. Hope that helps.
Top marks on explaining the process. Fantastic job Ron!
Ron, you caught me in mid-blog...I sometimes publish a rough draft to see how it looks since I'm still liable to mess up. I've since answered your question re: the pot is by Sid Tustin at Winchcombe. You and Brandon would be good competition.
Hi Ron - Great video! I make these, but hadn't even thought about the plug as a solution to the lid cracks. Wow, such a wonderful solution. Thank you!!!
Ron - almost like having you back at Clayworks teaching! Thanks very much for posting these. Miss you at Clayworks.
