Slipped Up
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 5:56PM
The side handle teapots are all slipped up. I'll draw on these soon. I think they will work well. The angle of the spouts are better in real life than in this photo, they look like come off the pot too straight here.
It's the first time I've slipped the body then attached the parts on a pot. (middle teapot). I think I'm going to like it and will probably make some cups with slipped bodies and unslipped handles for the next firing.

don't forget ...you can always wax those parts. of course, it may not feel the same
Kyle, True. Thanks. I see you got your website back. Did you have to pay ransom?
Attaching a handle in red clay to a pot that has slip in white can be a little tricky and messy, but do-able. I've done it to re-wet a too dry pot.
This worked out pretty easily. Just had to get the timing right and be modest about the scoring and slipping for the attachments. I love letting the red clay show so I think I'll be doing more of this. Of course I'll know for sure after the firing.
I like the alternating look a lot.
