Ron,
nice looking bowls. Do you ever have issues with cracking on the tall feet? Seems like it might be hard to get good compression with all that clay.... just curious. I do like how they look, set up so high like they are. The creatures are pretty fun too.

Thanks ya'll.
Joe, I don't seem to have any problems with cracking on the smaller ones, I did notice yesterday that one of the larger ones had developed an S crack in the base. You're right about the compression thing with that extra clay. I try to give it a good ribbing across the bottom when making. They are thrown on a batt (as opposed to off the hump) so I think that helps a bit.

Hi Ron,
I love a good tall foot myself. There are so many nice things you can do to them when they are that high. I have carved through them, and cut tall, decorative feet to lift the whole thing up. My last prof. told me to stop spending so much time on them. Any way... I never had cracking problems, as I use a teaspoon to compress and smooth the wet clay inside before pulling the batt off the wheel.

Right on Robert! Good ideas and good suggestion about the compression. Thanks.
