Skunked and Pinned

It's a rainy day here and I've decided to work some on my new website.  I have pots coming out of the kiln today so stay tuned for some pictures either later tonight or in the morning.

We had a skunk wandering around the yard and kiln shed yesterday and Karma made it her business to round it up.  She got sprayed but not a full blast which was lucky.  Sarah got a hold of Karma while I trapped the skunk under a 30 gallon trash can.

I'm pretty sure it was sick, it was acting peculiar and actually following me around the yard once it saw Karma was out of the picture.

I covered the can and took the skunk down the road about a mile and released it.

We saw a raccoon a few days ago walking drunkenly down the side of the road in the middle of the day.  I wonder if there are some rabid animals about.

Here's Karma after she got a good bath and skunk treatment wash.

In other news I've started 'Pinning'.  If you haven't heard, Pinterest is the hot new social media site right now.  I was asked to join a couple months ago but didn't really get into it until I watched this video by Megan Auman.

So any of you out there who are on Pinterest I'd appreciate you pinning any content from my blog here or even better, from my Etsy site.  If you'd like to be invited to join Pinterest just send me a note and I'll invite you.

Lastly, I'm glad you all liked my last little video.  That was fun and it received many comments on my FB page.

Well that's all for now. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

Hot Day. Cold Cider

It was hot today in the shop.

I don't think it was that hot though, this thing is at least 30 years old. But it was hot because the bisque shut off at 2pm.  I should fire it at night, but Karma sleeps in the studio and I don't want to roast her.

I did get some work done.

And I made a chicken

I ran into one of the beer distributor reps last week at the grocery.  I asked him if he could get some cider and he said his company stocked Magners.  So I ordered a case and it came today!!

Of course I had to have one when I got home.  Sure it was 11:30 am but I had to make sure it was good ya know?  It was!  And it reminded me of this time with my Sweet Wife when we were in London.

All right, so the tests should be out of the kiln tomorrow.  Looking forward to that. And  have some more small tests in the little kiln going right now.  They will have to be glazed and go in the big kiln, hopefully on Thursday.

Stay tuned.

Bring out the Bubble Wrap

I am packing up my pots to send to the NC Crafts Gallery in Carrboro, NC .  I have this big box plus another one that I have yet to start on.  The kiln is cooling  with the animal jars inside.  I guess I'm sending about 30 pots total.  Maybe 32.  It should be a really nice show.  I am looking forward to going down for the opening on April 9th.  If you are in the area I'd love for you to be there.  See the gallery's website HERE.

Karma is happy to play with almost anything.  She's had this piece of firewood for 2 1/2 years.  You can see she's rounded off most of the edges by now.  Yes, we do buy her some nice doggie toys but this piece of wood seems to have really lasted.  Maybe I should market it and start selling it at PetSmart.

Which reminds me of THIS!

Tuesday's Post

Karma and I just got back from a nice walk.  The birds are out chirping away, we saw a flock of geese fly over and we went by the livestock barn to visit the cows. (Last visitors they'll have before transport to slaughter I'm afraid) (Such happy thoughts here on my blog. Ha. Sorry).

Anyhow, I have a bisque cooling and freshly slipped cups drying in the studio.  It's been a busy day of photographing pots for my Etsy Shop and working in the studio.

Please take the poll over in the right side bar if you haven't yet.  It seems like most everyone that reads my blog is a potter.  No surprise there really, and I'm thrilled to have you all.  Thanks for continuing to visit.  I'm wanting to make some improvements to this site soon and knowing who the audience is will help.  It helps me to put the right content out there too.

I'm looking forward to making a special trip on Thursday. Stay tuned for that, hopefully I'll have a bit of film to share on Friday.

Cheers!
